Interim Site Planning Application submitted
The full planning application for the new, purpose built, interim building for Orsett Heath Academy, located at Thurrock Rugby Club, has now been submitted.
You can view the full application, drawings and supporting statements by clicking here to visit the Thurrock Council website or clicking the links at the bottom of this news article. We are sure that you will agree that the plans are an exciting step towards our goal of providing much needed secondary places for September 2019 (subject to DfE approval).
The full set of plans will also be on display for prospective parents and pupils to view at William Edwards School on Tuesday 4th December (next week). The plans will be on display between 3.30pm and 7pm in the main school hall and Trust representatives will be available to answer any questions.
As you will see in the supporting statement, the situation with secondary school places in Thurrock is very serious indeed. The council have confirmed that following ‘on time’ applications (by the 28th October) the Local Authority will be 244 secondary places short for September 2019 without new places being made available. This number will of course rise once all late applications are received. The urgent need for new Year 7 places for September 2019 cannot be overstated, particularly for the hundreds of families who don’t yet realise the potential jeopardy waiting on secondary offer day in March next year.
Therefore, your support for the planning application is very important and will make a real difference. Please take 5 minutes to register you support (if you feel able to) via the link below.
We continue to work with the Department for Education on ‘readiness to open’ and will continue to do everything that we can to support their decision making process. That process is ongoing but the full planning application is an important step forwards.
